Lester B. Williams Memorial Forest
A circular blue-blazed trail approximately one and a half
miles long. Merrow Meadow Park
Nature trail with educational stations along the route,
handicap accessible for approximately 1/3 mile.
Natchaug Forest

The name Natchaug translates to “land between the rivers,”
referring to the land at the junction of the Bigelow and
Still Rivers which join to form the Natchaug River. From
mountain biking to fishing, the Forest is widely known for

1.3 mile hiking and biking trail displaying the history and

River Mills Heritage Trail

An easy 1 mile walk or bike ride linking eight historic
buildings in downtown Putnam.
The Last Green Valley

The 695,000 acre area is home to an abundance of land for
hikers and cyclists alike. The scenic area boasts more than
130 miles of trails, over 80 ponds and lakes, seven state
forests, five state parks, and the presence of many species
of wildlife.
